Dahlem Environmental Education Center

You can reach the Dahlem Environmental Education Center in Jackson, MI by taking I-94 south. The exit is at Monroe, then turn left onto McDevitt Street. Continue on McDevitt to Kimmel and South Jackson roads. Follow the signs to the center, which is located inside the Fannie Beach Arboretum. Five miles of trails wind through prairie and mature forest, including a wooden boardwalk over a wetland. Some trails are barrier-free, and even wheelchair accessible. It is located at 7117 S Jackson Rd, Jackson, MI 49201.

Myrna Berlet, a longtime environmental educator, photographer, wood carver and filmmaker, donated $250,000 to the Dahlem Environmental Education Center to benefit the region. Berlet taught at Jackson College for 32 years and won numerous awards. Her generous gift will benefit the Dahlem Conservancy and provide $250,000 annually to the center. The Dahlem Environmental Education Center is located within the Fannie Beach Arboretum. Hikers and nature lovers can enjoy five miles of hiking trails through the arboretum's mature forest, prairie, and wetland ecosystem. You can even get into the wetland on a wooden boardwalk. The Dahlem Conservancy's goal is to communicate environmental education and sustainable ecology farm growth, and provides expert land conservancy leadership.

Located in Summit Township in south-central Jackson, Michigan, the Dahlem Environmental Education Center is a natural history education center with five miles of trails. During your visit, you'll discover the diverse habitats of native wildlife, as well as numerous ponds, wetlands, and forests. A resurfaced 3/8-mile trail can be used by visitors with limited mobility.

If you want to host a wedding or other event, you may be interested in renting the Dahlem Environmental Education Center. The Dahlem Conservancy has nearly 300 acres of natural land to explore. The gardens, flower-filled grasslands, and lush forest serve as an outdoor classroom. The center also has an ecological farm and 48 garden plots for rent. The Dahlem Environmental Education Center is a nonprofit organization that relies solely on donations, sponsorship, and grants to maintain the park.
